Parlophone (U.K.) / c. 1937

Design: The design features the Lindstrom 'L' or pound sterling sign at the top, with the right-leaning italic logo lettering displaying the extreme left-leaning lowercase 'o' as seen in the caps of the earlier Odeon logo (right).

History: Parlophone was one of several labels (including Odeon) owned by Carl Lindström, a German businessman whose international business activities had been curtailed by the outbreak of WWI. It was the first German label to reappear in England after the war, and soon became one of the major players in the record field. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
