Design: The fine-lined 'engraved' outer border is an echo of the elaborate multi-patterned border seen on the pre-WWI label. The label name lettering, with its decorative curlicues, harks back to the Victorian era.

History: According to online encyclopedia Wikipedia, Parlophon was founded in 1896 by Swedish-German businessman Carl Lindström. Initially, the 'Parlophon' brand was used on gramophones before the company began making records. In 1927 the UK company Columbia Graphophone Company acquired a controlling interest in the Carl Lindström Company and thereby in Parlophone. In 1931 Columbia would merge with the Gramophone Company to form Electric & Musical Industries Ltd (EMI). Label scan courtesy of collector Dimitar Malchev of Bulgaria.
