Lumen 2

Lumen (France) / c. 1938

Design: The positive image is clearer here than on the previous label, but the meaning of the symbolism is just as obscure (an insect plucking the strings of a lyre?). A stroboscopic border has been added.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who notes: "Disques Lumen had an address of 3, rue Garancière, Paris 6ème. Their shellac records were pressed by French Columbia. The last reference to a corporate address in the vinyl era was in 1963 as 'Maison Disques Lumen, Paris.' So far I have found only classical and sacred music on the Lumen label, and some sound recordings, as above (sounds of the battlefield, artillery duel)."
