Iberia (France) / c. 1933

back next

Design: Iberia is the name of the peninsula at the western edge of Europe, including Spain, Portugal and part of France. The sketch of long-horned cattle being herded by a gaucho (matador?) past a woman (flamenco dancer?) on a vine-draped verandah successfully evokes the culture of the area. However, the label name lettering, probably done by the same artist, is rather crudely drawn and ill-proportioned.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that the masters were apparently appropriated from the Spanish Regal label.
