Design: A chubby script with swash underlining for the label name, very much in the 1920s idiom. The interstices are filled with organic scrollwork, giving the label a Victorian look. The pasted-on stamp at the top may be covering the corporate logo, a crowing Gallic rooster (perhaps a intentional pun on the owner's name).
History: Founded in South Africa in 1926 by Eric Gallo, the company enjoyed a long life. According to the notice at the foot, the product was manufactured in England. Label scan courtesy of collector Jukka Kettunen of Finland.
