Design: The block-lettered label name has been carefully modified so that the letters widen as they radiate outward, to compensate for optical distortion. The classical laurel wreath, accorded to winning athletes, is a motif to be seen on other labels such as Radioprom (right) from Russia. The BIEM logo at the foot stands for Bureau International des Sociétés Gérant les Droits d'Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mécanique, which was formed in 1929 to govern music licensing in many countries.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Lucyna Lachowicz of Poland.
