Design: Similar in design to the previous label, but with a simplified border.
History: Label scan courtesy of collector Florin Caloianu of Romania, who writes: "This golden Cristal label was manufactured in Romania for the home market by the Mischonzniky company between 1938 and 1939. Nathan Mischonzniky, the Jewish owner of the Elecrecord and Cristal labels, had died in 1935. His brother (?) Otto replaced him as head of the company, but suddenly, at the and of 1939, he disappeared; the whereabouts of his remains are still a mystery (perhaps he was killed by the Nazis while in Germany, but I don't know for sure). Up to 1940, more than half of the employees of the Mischonzniky company were Jewish, but after that year not one remained. Romania, an ally of Germany until August 1944, had a police force called the 'Legionari' (the equivalent of the Nazis), who removed all Jews from public office and deprived them of their jobs. However, they were not exterminated, as happened in other European countries, but were protected during the war period."
