Corona (Denmark) / 1938

back next

Design: The sun motif at the top suggests that the label name might derive from the 'corona,' the thin outer layer surrounding the sun, but the Latin word can also mean 'wreath' or 'crown,' symbolized by both the victor's laurel wreath around the sun and, to a lesser degree, the decorative border surrounding the lower segment. 'Radiospredning Forbeholdes' means 'Broadcasting rights reserved.'

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who notes: "The Corona label of Denmark was active from 1936 to 1940. The company also issued the Helofon, Tono and Felix labels."
