Design: A richly colourful and stylish symmetrical design, with well-proportioned logos.

History: Made for the Olympic Games of 1940, which was originally scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, but that country was stripped of its status as host because of its involvement in the 1938 Second Sino-Japanese War. The event was then scheduled to be held in Helsinki, Finland in 1940, but the outbreak of WWII forced an indefinite postponement. The Games, which took place in 1948 in London, England, were eventually re-assigned to Helsinki (1952) and Tokyo (1964). Label scan courtesy of collector Jukka Kettunen of Finland.
