Caruso (Czechoslovakia) / 1936

Design: In the upper segment of this colourful and carefully-drawn image, a sparse but well-dressed audience in a formal park relax by listening to the voice of the world-renowned tenor Enrico Caruso, whose image appears to emanate from the horn of a table-top phonograph. The lower segment has a very attractive saw-tooth border; the effort spent on the visual appeal obviously meant that it was to attract attention at the point-of-sale.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Gabriel Gössel of Czechoslovakia, who writes: "A variant of the Arfa label with recordings of Bulgarian folk tunes. Ordered by the Cohen company of Sofia, it was made in Prague by the Esta Company."
