C & A (Germany) / c. 1935

Design: A very high-contrast assemblage for the main panel, featuring bold block-face lettering for the logo and a vibrant pen script. There is also high contrast in the red and blue colour scheme.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "This unique C&A promotion record, dating from about 1935, was made by the Telefunken company. C&A is basically a Netherlands fashion retailer (and is still active in Europe). The initials 'C&A' were taken from the first names of the Brenninkmeijer family, who owned it, though in Great Britain it was colloquially known as 'Cheap & Attractive.' However, all the C&A stores in Britain were closed down some years ago."
