Brunswick 1

Brunswick (U.S.A.) / 1939

back next

Design: A complete revision except for the logotype, which is only slightly modified. The heraldic symbolism has entirely disappeared. The influence of Art Deco, which made a huge impact on design in the 1920s and 1930s, can be seen in the vertical shaded lines in the upper section of the label, but the overall design, with its rounded panels, follows the basic layout of the Columbia label of the late 1920s.

History: Launched in 1916, Brunswick was absorbed by the American Record Corporation in 1928, bought out by CBS in 1938, then acquired by Decca in 1944.
