Design: Some brilliant Art Deco lettering for the label name, radiating outward and perfectly letterspaced. Art Deco, a movement toward hard-edged, metallic forms, which had its beginnings in France in 1925, was a reaction against organic, curlicued Victoriana, which here can be clearly seen in the decoration below!

History: Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K. The featured artist, Stanley Holloway, was a celebrated music-hall entertainer who had several major record hits in a comedic vein.
