Bluebird 4

Bluebird (Canada) / 1939

Design: A music staff (with the bass and treble clefs placed symmetrically either side of the now-outlined bird) replaces the elongated notes and the music-book design, making more space available for credit lines in the lower segment. The typeface used for the label name is even more Art Deco than its predecessor, its weight matched well by the outside border. Though a well-designed update, the 'look' is quite different from its predecessor because of the colour change and the label name, which now runs straight across.

History: This 'staff' version of the Bluebird label followed the 'buff' label and lasted into the early 1940s.
