Design: The influence of William Morris, father of the Arts and Crafts movement in England, is evident in the richly decorative grape-vine ornament and Gothic lettering of this attractive label. Morris was a multi-faceted genius of a socialist bent. His philosophy concerning the importance of hand-crafted beauty to improve the quality of life for the working class influenced many designers, not only in England but also in Europe, Scandinavia and North America.

History: This Victorian-looking label was a product of the Aeolian Company, player piano manufacturers in New York. The company launched its own line of lateral-cut records in 1919.
