Design: A rich Gothic for the label name, with its angular verticality, contrasts with the bold horizontal round-cornered panels containing imprinted info. Ludgate is one of three 'hills' on which the central city of London stands; why the record is so named is unclear. Perhaps the company's business offices were located in the immediate area. One of very few record labels to show what is recorded on the reverse side.
History: Produced by Vocalion for an obscure client. Launched in 1921, the label lasted until 1926. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
