The Butterfly Record

The Butterfly Record (U.K.) / c. 1929

Design: The simple treatment is rather crude and roughly printed, with a horizontal line dividing the label into upper and lower segments. The hand-lettered label name has tall capitals and a small x-height (as does the line of imprinting at the foot).

History: Whether or not this label (from a 7 inch record) is related to the earlier Butterfly is unknown. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that it used masters from the Victory catalogue (a cheap subsidiary of the Crystalate conglomerate).
