Swifts Record

Swift's Record (U.K.) / 1925

back next

Design: An unusual production in that the song title is placed in the upper segment, in a large type size, while the song lyrics are printed out below. It is surprising that the image of of a swift (a close relative of the more common swallow) was not used to provide visual interest (perhaps like the Besttone Record of an earlier era).

History: One of several records pressed by the Crystalate Company, presumably a cheaply-priced line for a department store outlet. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
