Design: The design bears an obvious similarity to the earlier Meloto label, which in turn was based on the still earlier Gennett design. All three exploit the strength and richness of 'colour' of the Gothic artistic tradition, effectively contrasting straight, hard-edged (masculine) lettering with frilly, soft-edged (feminine) decoration.

History: Launched by Homophone in 1926 and lasting until 1935. According to Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., the label arrived at its name after its founder, William Sternberg. Label scan courtesy of collector Greg Butler of the U.K.
