Savana (U.K.) / c. 1926

back next

Design: A mirror-image of a naked figure reclining against a treble clef while blowing a horn, against an arbitrarily-shaped solid background. The label name is kept quite small, for such a small-size label.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that these small-size records used masters from the Mimosa and Bell labels (perhaps to create an illusion of competition at the point of purchase). Why the name Savana was chosen is unknown (a savannah refers to an area of grassland).
