Romeo (U.S.A.) / 1926

Design: The ornamentation is rather strange, with its elongated blobby shapes filled with cross-hatching being reminiscent of spermatozoa wiggling toward a female egg. The main line of Art Deco-influenced lettering, however, is very elegant.

History: Launched in 1926 as a subsidiary of the Cameo label, Romeo was sold in Kress dime stores, and survived until 1938.
