Regal 4

Regal (Spain) / c. 1929

Design: A laurel wreath surrounds the label name, superimposed on a very nice shaded scroll (the 'Viva-tonal' lettering is the same as on British Regal labels). The curlicues at the top of the lower segment echo the shape of the scroll. The expanded font used for the song title ('Suenos Rotos') is in a very interesting Art Nouveau-influenced style that would have been issued at least 30 years earlier.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Dimitar Malchev of Bulgaria. Regal was a subsidiary of the Columbia label.
