Puritan 3

Puritan (U.S.A.) / c. 1926

Design: The black and gold Puritan label utilized a decorative approach (though the Puritan sect were notable for their preference for soberness and simplicity in all things). The Gothic typeface also lends an ornamental touch. The typeface, illustration and the ornament are, however, equally gaunt in character.

History: Launched in 1918 as a vertical-cut product, Puritan lasted until 1927.
