Portland Record

Portland Record (U.K.) / c. 1921

Design: An old-fashioned approach where the label name is forced into an extreme semicircular shape. While the word 'Portland' is lettered in an up-to-date display style, the word 'Record' is lettered in a Victorian-era style.

History: Made by Edison Bell for Curry's, the nationwide chain of bicycle stores, between 1920 and 1929. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
