Polyphon (Germany) / c. 1928

Design: Slighly different treatment to the previous label, with the flash background to the logo being reversed, and with the label name being shown in white inline capitals, also reversed out of the dark red background. The imprinting is done much more neatly than the previous label, in a typeface called Korinna, which had its beginnings in the Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) fashion, popular in the early 1900s. The outer border now appears as short dashes.

History: Thanks to collector Georg Richter of Germany for the following updated info re the history of Polyphon: "The original Polyphon (from 'Polyphon Werke') did not merge with Polydor [as earlier suggested here]. The DGG ('Grammophon') became a subsidiary of Polyphon for political reasons." Label scan courtesy of collector Jukka Kettunen of Finland.
