Perfectaphone 2

Perfectaphone (France) / c. 1929

Design: A simplified design and an updated, enlarged logo on this 8 1/2 inch record. The Art Deco label name lettering, though small in size, has sufficient visual impact. The imprinting has been done in dark green to harmonize with the background in the upper segment.

History: Scans courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "The Perfectaphone company was founded by Mr. Constantin Furn in Paris (at Rue Markel 8) for the manufacture of gramophones and vertical cut discs. Trade marks were applied for between 1919 and 1922. The material used for the records is not shellac, and the labels appear to be a kind of plastic decal, not paper. The Garde Républicaine orchestra was part of the French police and was well known for performing marches, classic music, and even ragtimes in the early years of the 20th century."
