Macksoud (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1924

Design: A very attractive design, with Art Nouveau-inspired ornamentation (compare the similarity of graphic treatment with the contemporary Clover label, right). In 1846, when it was introduced by Mohammad, Shah of Qajar, the image of the lion and rising sun represented the nation of Iran (Persia), remaining so until the revolution of 1979. The label name is one of very few to be treated in a panoramic fashion.

History: Unknown. Evidently aimed at Iranian (or perhaps other Middle Eastern) immigrants to the U.S.A. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
