Italian Neapolitan Records

Italian Neapolitan Records (U.S.A. ethnic) / c. 1922

Design: The image of the active volcano is that of Vesuvius, as seen from the Bay of Naples, one of Italy's main tourist destination areas, with the nearby ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum being victims of past eruptions. The word 'Neapolitan' refers to the language spoken in the Naples area. The horse-collar-shaped banner containing the label name is not very successful in that much of the image is cut off.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Evidently a label aimed at the large ethnic Italian population in America, especially concentrated in large East Coast cities such as New York and Philadelphia. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
