Isiphon Daheim Record

Isiphon Daheim Record (Germany) / 1925

back next

Design: The stylized Gothic script for the label name (written in 'Sütterlin,' a style named after Ludvig Sütterlin, a German graphic artist who developed it in the early 20th century) is almost like a form of shorthand, and while graphically interesting and decorative, is hardly legible for modern-day eyes. The Isiphon logo, of a singing bird rising from its nest, is also highly stylized.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "'Daheim' means 'at home' (though not a 'home recording'). The illustration below shows the detail at the foot of the label, 'ISI Erzeugnis' (ISI product) enlarged."
