Isiphon Concert Record

Isiphon-Concert-Record (Germany) / c. 1926

back next

Design: The angular saw-teeth and contrasting curved roundels of the frilly border is reflected in the treatment of the logo of three birds singing through megaphones (the megaphone motif also appears on the contemporary Polydor label) and the font for the label name, with its rounded curves and sheared-off stems.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "The master on this record was originally made in September 1925 by Beka, so the credit for 'Isiphon-Blas-Orchester' (brass band) is fictitious. It is difficult to date this ICR pressing accurately, but c. 1926 is probably correct. The Ammre license [detail below] is punched through the label instead of the usual stamp being affixed."
