Grey Gull 4

Grey Gull (U.S.A.) / 1928

Design: The same designer's touch can also be seen in the Globe label (right): a heavy gold outline dividing the circle into two sections; white outlining to the type, gold printing; a circular dot integrated with the label name; the same cartouche surrounding the words "Recorded by" etc. The gull has become more effective when reversed out to white, but the drawing of the bird has deteriorated; here, it looks more like a pigeon.

History: Despite its efforts to make a very cheaply priced line of products, Grey Gull would soon become one of the many victims of the Depression which hit North America in 1929. It folded in 1930.
