Grand Gala

Grand Gala (Germany) / c. 1925

Design: 'Ticks' or brackets are added at the centre of the lowercase x-height on each downstroke of the brush script label name lettering (and elsewhere), providing an appropriate decorative effect. The treatment bears similarity to that appearing on the contemporary Imperial Record label.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). The term 'Grand Gala' might suggest that the label was intended for export to an English-speaking market, rather than a domestic German one. Label scan courtesy of collector and musicologist Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
