Emerson 1

Emerson (U.S.A.) / 1920

Design: A very American-looking design, featuring an outer shape like a police badge or highway sign. The main logo, centred above the shield, is rather cumbersome, impinging on the rest of the design. Note the curiously lazy 'o' (which leans to the right, unlike the Odeon left-leaning character) and the unusually angled serif-endings on the arms of the capital 'E' in the label name.

History: The Emerson label was founded in 1916 by Victor Emerson, who had worked with the Columbia company in its early years. After fading in the early 1920s, Emerson was revitalized in 1922, and continued until 1928.
