Design: In this well-balanced 'old-style' design, an illustration of the Genoa lighthouse (pictured right) is positioned at the centre, above an opened-out medieval-style scroll containing the imprinted information, with the rather long label name running around the outer border of the upper segment. The colour combination of dark and light blue is handled very effectively.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Giuliana Fugazzotto of Italy, who writes: "The label shows the port of Genoa with the 'Lanterna,' the lighthouse that is the symbol of the city. Built in its current form in 1543, it is also the third oldest lighthouse in the world (among those still active)."
