Connorized (U.S.A.) / c. 1922

Design: The label name capitals sit on a semicircular baseline, with a swash underneath; the individual letters are given unusual treatment (note the right-leaning 'O,' the wavy-stroked 'N' and 'Z' and the open-bowl 'D'). The curlicued decoration added to a solid panel is also unusual.

History: Manufactured by Starr for Connorized, who made piano-player rolls. With a strong emphasis on ethnic music (this release being Italian), and being sold from only a couple of outlets in northeastern U.S.A., its total sales were very modest. Launched in 1921, it lasted only a year. Label scan courtesy of collector Marco Gialdroni of Italy.
