Clausophon 2

Clausophon Record (Germany) / 1923

back next

Design: The identical banner artwork as seen on the British Crystalate consortium's Oliver Record, with virtually the same dot border treatment in the lower segment (as usual, the quality of the German presswork is superior to that of the British). A beautiful brush-scripted logo for the label name, with a swash underline typical of the era (e.g. Clifford, Selecta).

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway. Thanks to collector Georg Richter of Germany for the following info: "From data published by author Horst H. Lange, the Clausophon label was produced by Clemens Claus AG of Thalheim, being later known as Clausophon GmbH of Berlin. Finally, this label belonged to the Küchenmeister group of affiliated labels (which included Ultraphon, etc.)."
