Bell Record

Bell Record (U.S.A.) / 1922

Design: The open area above the spindle was at first occupied by the image of a bell, but it was deleted, perhaps for legal reasons. The indent in the tail of the letter 'R' in 'Record' still reveals where the top of the bell once overlapped the lettering.

History: Bell Record, which was launched in 1920 as an offshoot of the Standard Music Roll Company of Orange, New Jersey, survived until 1928. Alternate scan (below) courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
