Vindobona-Record (Austro-Hungarian Empire) / c. 1910

Design: The label name appears in a classic 'high-waisted' Art Nouveau style of lettering which had its beginnings in Austria around the turn of the century. It has since been revived under the name 'Desdemona' and continues to enjoy great popularity for decorative applications.

History: Label scans above and below courtesy of collector Gabriel Gössel of Czechoslovakia, who writes: "This label, of Leopold Kimpink Co. of Vienna, was targeted at Czech countrymen living in Austria. It offered the same 'gray' repertoire as, for example, the Derby label, plus reissues of recordings made in Prague and published there on various labels."
