Vera Record

Vera Record (Germany) / c. 1912

back next

Design: The design treatment, with its overarching label name, the carefully-arranged 'candelabra' of symmetrical decorative elements (both geometric and organic), and well-printed gold on black colour combination bears similarity to several other German labels of the same era, e.g. Janus Record, Jumbo-Record, Lyrophon etc. The label name lettering shows sharp-pointed triangular 'Latin' serifs which were popular in advertising in the late 19th century (and which now have a very 'dated' appearance), which gave way to blobby rounded serifs (e.g. Silvertone) in the early 20th century.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector Lucyna Lachowicz of Poland.
