Triumphon Record 2

Triumphon Record (Germany) / c. 1913

Design: The label shows two interesting trade marks, each featuring a large shaded initial 'T' but drawn in completely different type styles (Tuscan with its forked serifs on the left, roman with its bracketed serifs on the right). The illustrations are drawn in a similar style, but are quite opposite in nature; one features a dove (symbolizing peace) superimposed on the initial, while the other has a fire-breathing dragon (symbolizing war, or terror) behind. Perhaps they were intended to be shown together as a pair, to show the triumph of good over evil (to modern eyes this seems to be a rather obscure object lesson), or perhaps the company was in the process of transitioning from one logo to another.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway.
