The Diamond Gramophone Record

The Diamond Gramophone Record (U.K.) / 1913

Design: The very long label name, with diamond-shaped dots between each word, runs almost all the way around the outer edge, contained within an elaborately-buckled belt (a visual concept similar to the contemporary but plainer Pathé label). The many lines created by the outline lettering, with bracketing at the centre of each vertical stroke, gives a dazzling appearance to the label, accentuated by the rays emanating from the diamond-shaped panel above the spindle hole.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that this label used masters from the Diploma catalogue.
