The Chappell Record

The "Chappell" Record (U.K.) / c. 1912

Design: A well-balanced symmetrical design, with decorative curlicued lines helping to form a semicircular unit of the label name.

History: Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that the Chappell company, London-based music publishers founded in 1810 (publishers of the Gilbert & Sullivan operettas), used Grammavox masters for releases on their own label. The Warner/Chappell company is still active.
