Telra-Record (Switzerland) / c. 1912

Design: The label lionizes the legendary figure of William Tell, an expert Swiss crossbow-marksman who symbolized the resistance of Austrian tyranny when he successfully split an apple placed on his son's head -- and who has just scored a bulls-eye by shooting a bolt directly into the spindle-hole of the record he carries. The graphics are extremely well drawn and the colour combination is very attractive.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Helmut Janisch of Germany.
