Standard Record

Standard Record (U.K.) / c. 1910

Design: The label name refers to the royal flag or 'standard' of England (rather than a level of quality) which appears on the right, crossed with the Union Jack on the left. As the personal flag of the sovereign, the Royal Standard is flown over the royal residence only when the sovereign is present. Perhaps special permission must have been granted for these images to be registered as a trademark.

History: A short-lived issue, manufactured by Edison Bell for an unknown client. Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
