Sport-Record (Germany) / c. 1911

Design: The illustration of a factory is obviously a simplified line drawing of the wood-engraving appearing in advertisements for the Kalliope record label, so this would be a subsidiary label of that company. The ornamentation is very much in the Jugendstil fashion popular in Germany from the early 1900s on (the same 'rosebud' ornament may be seen on a Kalliope label from 1907).

History: Label courtesy of collector Lucyna Lachowicz of Poland, who writes: "I think it is probably a German production from the World War I period. The other side features a military march played by a Berlin orchestra."
