Silvertone 3

Silvertone (U.S.A.) / 1917

Design: The romantic, painterly illustration of the Victorian age, seen in the previous Silvertone label, has given way to modern commercial design. The typeface used for the main line is of the heavyweight Cooper Black family, which was becoming a very popular font at the time for advertising. Now, the label name travels straight across the label instead of following the outer curve. The silhouette image of Pan has been lifted from the earlier design.

History: Silvertone records, marketed through Sears Roebuck, were pressed by Columbia.
