Rosebud (Australia) / c. 1918

back next

Design: The label name appears in a stub-serif outline font virtually identical to that seen on the contemporary Regal label (right), a U.K. Columbia subsidiary. The treatment of the illustration being centred on the label, to be pierced by the spindle hole is also the same, as is the typography at the foot.

History: The Rosebud label was pasted over surplus U.K. Columbia stock and sold in Australia. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
