Design: The bird image is reminiscent of that appearing on both the Francis Salabert and Rondo labels.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway, who notes that this label was related to the UK-based Edison Bell Winner label. He writes: "The label was designed by the Swedish artist Einar Nerman (1888 - 1983), the logo being based on the legendary Phoenix. Cooperation with Edison Bell lasted for only two years (until 1919); after that the text on the label was reduced  to just 'Rolf Succes,' the word 'Winner' being removed; this label change took place in 1920 and lasted one year only. Most of the recording on this latter label was done in Saltsjöbaden, in Sweden." Ernst Rolf (real name Ernst Ragnar Johansson), 1891-1932, was a singer and actor who made over 850 recordings in a highly successful but relatively short career.
