Design: The very attractive and well-drawn illustration features an eagle perched on a phonograph, like the Paramount label (right), but here the 'morning glory' horn is facing forward.

History: Nipponophone had its beginnings in 1910 as the manufacturer of the first Japanese-made phonograph. In 1925, Nipponophone became affiliated with Columbia, which eventually become part of EMI. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
