Design: As the 20th century wore on, distinct panel shapes began to emerge in label design, e.g. the square (Vocalion); the semicircle (Beacon); the hexagon (Actuelle), the diamond (Diamond); the shield (National Music Lovers); and the star (above). The type information, set in a variety of shapes and styles, has been fitted at various angles into available spaces, creating something of a graphic hodge-podge.

History: Label scan courtesy of music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who notes that this Morgan & Scott label was a product of the Crystalate Record Company.
